Retrace is a calculator. Within a time range you believe your birth falls in, it shows which times the events of your life touch most. It does not claim to find or confirm your birth time. Every calculation runs on your phone. There is no account to create, and no server of ours keeps your information. This page explains what the app stores, where, and what leaves your phone.

1. What you enter

For each case you enter a birth date, a birthplace (coordinates and time zone), the range your birth time may fall in or the time on a document, the events of your life (their type, date, and how certain that date is) and, if you like, a name for the case.

Some of this can be sensitive, such as an illness, a separation or a loss. Your cases stay on your phone and in your own iCloud or Google backup. They are never sent to us or to any other server.

Birthplace search uses city data built into the app; the place name you type never goes online.

2. Device backup

Your cases are part of your phone's own backup: iCloud Backup on iPhone, and the device backup in your Google account on Android. That way your cases survive a new phone. The backup lives in your Apple or Google account and is covered by their privacy policies; we can't access it. You can turn it off or delete it in your phone's settings.

3. What leaves your phone

Calculations need no internet connection. The app only goes online in these cases:

  • Purchases. Premium and Pro are one-time purchases handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your card or payment details. Your purchase is stored on your phone and keeps working offline.
  • Sharing. If you choose to send a report, your phone's share sheet opens, and only the content you pick goes where you pick.

The app sends no usage statistics or crash reports and contains no third-party analytics. If you have turned on diagnostics sharing with Apple or Google in your phone's settings, those companies may pass crash reports to developers without your identity; your phone's settings control that.

4. Free event counter

The free tier allows 4 events over the app's lifetime. To keep track, the phone stores a single number: in the Keychain on iPhone, and in a small file included in the app's backup on Android. It holds none of your events or birth details and is never sent to us; it is only part of your phone's own backup, so it moves with you if you set up a new phone from that backup. Delete all data does not reset it.

5. What we don't do

  • No account or sign-in, and we never ask for your email address.
  • No ads, and no advertising identifiers (IDFA, Advertising ID).
  • No tracking across apps or websites.
  • No location permission, and no access to your contacts, photos or calendar.
  • Data is never sold, rented or shared.

6. Deleting your data

You can delete every case in the app under Settings → Delete all data. Removing the app also deletes your cases. The copy in your device backup is removed through your phone's backup settings. We hold no record tied to you, so there is nothing to delete on our side.

7. Children

The app is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

8. Your rights

To exercise your rights under the GDPR in the European Union or KVKK in Turkey (information, access, rectification, erasure, objection), write to support@retracebirth.com. Because we keep no personal data about you, most requests are answered by the delete and share options inside the app.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The latest version is always published at this address, and we will tell you inside the app about any significant change.
