Help and support

The most common questions are below. If yours isn't here, write to us: support@retracebirth.com

What does Retrace do?

It's a calculator for people who don't know their exact birth time. You enter your birth date, place, and the range your birth time may fall in, then add the dates of events in your life, such as a marriage, a move or a job change. Within that range, the app shows which times your events touch most, with the reasons.

There are no readings or predictions in the app.

Does the result show my birth time?

No. Retrace does not claim to find or confirm your birth time. It shows how strongly your events line up with times inside the range you entered. In our measurement on cases with documented birth times, these times did not point to the birth time better than randomly chosen times. Details are on the Method and limits page inside the app.

I don't remember the exact date. What should I do?

Enter what you know: a day, a month, a season or a year. If you don't remember the year either, you can enter how old you were when it happened. You also choose how certain the date is, and the app takes that into account.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. All calculations run on your phone, and birthplace search uses city data built into the app. The internet is only used for purchases. Details: Privacy Policy.

Where is my information kept? What happens if I change phones?

Everything you enter stays on your phone and in its own backup (iCloud Backup on iPhone, the device backup in your Google account on Android). There is no account, and nothing is sent to us. Set up a new phone from that backup and your cases come with it.

What's in the free tier? What are Premium and Pro?

The free tier gives you one case and 4 events in total over the app's lifetime. Deleting an event doesn't give it back; editing one doesn't use one up. Premium and Pro are one-time purchases with no subscription; the purchase screen in the app lists what each includes.

How do I restore a purchase?

While signed in with the Apple ID or Google account you bought with, tap Settings → Restore purchases in the app.

Can I get a refund? What happens to my cases afterwards?

Refunds follow Apple's and Google's own rules, so requests go to the store: reportaproblem.apple.com on iPhone, or your order history in Google Play on Android.

Your cases aren't deleted after a refund; you can still open and edit them. The free tier's limits apply again when you add new cases or events.

How do I delete my data?

In the app, Settings → Delete all data removes every case. Removing the app also deletes your cases. The copy in your device backup is removed through your phone's backup settings. This doesn't reset the free event counter.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Write to support@retracebirth.com. The app version, your phone model, system version and the steps that led to the bug help a lot. There's no need to send your events or birth details.
